Throughout the Twin Cities metro area new homes are being built and sold for profit, but one home in particular was constructed and sold to benefit our charity of choice, HopeKids, a local organization that offers a unique support system for children with life-threatening medical conditions AND their families.

“The House That Hope Built” was constructed by Robert Thomas Homes with the support of trade and business partners. Located in Spirit of Brandtjen Farm (Lakeville), the “Hope House” was an architect designed Jamison “C” floor plan that showcased nearly 2,300 square feet including 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a screen-in porch area and 3-car tandem garage. TheHouseThatHopeBuilt - Robert Thomas Homes

An official groundbreaking ceremony was held on Friday, June 12th 2015 in conjunction with our 6th annual Suburban Adventure Run + Walk. During the course of the construction process a few other events were held such as “The TYVEK® Time Capsule” event – Sealing Messages of HOPE which had over 200 attendees along with a birdhouse decorating event hosted during the Parade of Homes® and VIP Appreciation Night to thank our trades who contributed.

The home was featured and sold during the Fall 2015 Parade of Homes®. The net proceeds from the sale of “The House That Hope Built” along with cash donations Robert Thomas Homes and Tradition Companies was able to donate $400,000 to HopeKids Minnesota.

OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HOPEKIDS. A strong relationship between HopeKids, Tradition Companies and its affiliates, including Robert Thomas Homes, was formed on a golf course in 2007. During a round of 18-holes, the current President of HopeKids, Josh Taylor, was sharing his vision of starting a Minnesota chapter of HopeKids, a local nonprofit organization that not only provides unique support for children with life threatening illnesses but for their families as well. There was an immediate connection to the work of HopeKids, and Tradition Companies has been a large supporter ever since.

For the past six years, Tradition Companies and its affiliates, including Robert Thomas Homes have hosted a Suburban Adventure 5K/10K Run + Walk to help support HopeKids Minnesota. Last year with employee contributions and our corporate sponsors, Robert Thomas Homes’ raised nearly $13,000 for the charity.

This year Robert Thomas Homes will be embarking on a new fundraising endeavor with “The House That Hope Built,” to complement the annual Run + Walk.  At the conclusion of the event the main objective is to be able donate the net proceeds from the sale of a single family home after contributed labor, material, and cash donations.
